What Florida actually requires
Mold-related services are a licensed trade in Florida. You cannot legally assess or remediate mold for compensation without an MRSA or MRSR license. Here is what the DBPR requires, and where this course fits.
Complete the required education
The state requires documented training in mold, moisture, and respiratory protection, together with remediation techniques and processes.
Our three-day course covers all of it and issues the Certificate of Attendance / Successful Completion you'll attach to your application.
Pass the state-approved exam
Licensure requires passing a Florida-approved proctored examination for either mold assessment or mold remediation.
We administer the exam on the afternoon of day three, so you don't finish the course then wait weeks for a test date.
Apply to the DBPR
Submit your application with proof of education, your passing exam result, and the state's fees and insurance requirements.
Once licensed, Florida requires 14 hours of continuing education every two years to renew.
A note on scope: Florida does not permit the same licensee to both assess and remediate the same project. Assessors write the protocol; remediators carry it out. Most people begin with the license that matches the work they're already being asked to do โ and add the second later. This course goes well past the usual water-damage overview and exam cram. Every module exists because it turns up in real work โ in the report you'll write, the protocol you'll specify, or the liability you'll carry.
Introduction to the industry
How mold-related services are regulated in Florida, who does what, and the standard of care you'll be held to โ IICRC S500 and S520, the NYC guidelines, and EPA standards.
Understanding moisture
Where water comes from and how it moves through an assembly. Almost every mold problem is a moisture problem first, and you can't remediate what you haven't traced back to source.
Drying strategies
Equipment selection, psychrometrics, and drying plans. Knowing when a structure is actually dry โ and being able to document it โ is what separates a defensible job from a callback.
Building science & forensics
Reading a building as a system. How envelope, insulation, and pressure differentials create the conditions you'll be called out to investigate.
Construction fundamentals
Assemblies, materials, and how they're put together. You need to know what's behind the drywall before you can scope a containment or write a protocol.
Microbial & IAQ
What grows, what conditions it needs, and how it affects indoor air quality and occupant health. The biology behind the work you're documenting.
Sampling methodology
Choosing the right sample type, taking it correctly, and โ the part most people get wrong โ interpreting the lab result in context rather than reading spore counts as verdicts.
Chemicals & toxicity
Antimicrobials, biocides, encapsulants: what they do, what they don't, and where their use is appropriate versus where it papers over an unresolved moisture source.
Health & safety
Respiratory protection, PPE selection, and worker safety on containment jobs. Required by the state as part of your education, and the module that keeps your crew intact.
Sampling in practice
Hands-on time with the equipment. Pump calibration, cassette handling, chain of custody, and the documentation that makes a sample admissible rather than merely taken.
HVAC
How mechanical systems move spores, create pressure problems, and turn a contained issue into a building-wide one. Assessing ductwork and knowing when it's in scope.
Remediation & prevention
Containment, engineering controls, removal sequence, and clearance. Then the part clients actually care about โ making sure it doesn't come back.

Common questions
Do I need experience before taking this course?
No. The course is built to take someone with no mold background through to exam readiness in three days. Students range from people entirely new to the field through to inspectors and contractors with a decade behind them โ and both groups tell us they get something out of it, because the technical modules go deeper than the licensing minimum requires.
What's the difference between MRSA and MRSR?
MRSA is the Mold Assessor / Inspector license. Assessors investigate, sample, interpret results, and write the remediation protocol.
MRSR is the Mold Remediator license. Remediators carry out the work specified in that protocol.
Florida prohibits the same licensee from assessing and remediating the same project, which is why they're separate credentials. Choose the one matching the work you intend to do โ you can add the second later, or sit both exams now with the $1350 option.
Is the exam really included, or do I book it separately?
Included, and administered on the afternoon of day three. You select which exam you're sitting when you register. This is the main reason we recommend the course-plus-exam option over buying pieces separately โ students who take the exam elsewhere often wait weeks for a proctored slot, by which point the material has gone cold.
Can I take this online instead of traveling to Wildwood?
Yes. The virtual option runs live by Zoom or self-paced, and the exam is proctored online or scheduled at our office. Online registrations need a minimum of five days' notice so your printed course booklet arrives by post before the class begins. For online proctoring, both you and your desk must remain visible throughout the examination.
How long until I'm actually licensed?
You'll complete the course and examination within the three days. After that, timing depends on the DBPR processing your application, which is outside our control. You'll leave the course with the Certificate of Attendance / Successful Completion and your examination result โ the two things the application requires from us. The remaining steps are the state's fees, insurance, and any background requirements.
What happens after I'm licensed?
Florida requires 14 hours of continuing education every two years to renew an MRSA or MRSR license. We run that course as well, so you can stay compliant with the same provider rather than hunting for CE credits near your renewal date.
What if I don't pass the exam?
Call our office on (407) 440-2326 and we'll talk through your options. Our guarantee is that we teach an industry standard of care and we will prepare you to pass the exam โ but if things don't go your way on the day, speak to us directly rather than assuming you have to start over.
What's the refund policy?
